Share: do you love for lather & foam in shower?

I am not liking this Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Shampoo & Wash at all. It doesn’t smell good and doesn’t foam at all. And what really got on my nerve is that I’ve been buying this product for over a year and it didn’t used to be like that. The older formulation had a delicious scent and foamed very well. Even when the scent changed a little to smell more like a dog shampoo, it still foamed well. I wasn’t even aware that this is a different formulation till I started using it because saved for that little word “new”, I thought this is the same product I used to buy and so I just grabbed and paid without examining it. Okay, okay, I missed the big words “Fragrance Free” too! (-_-)

Yesh, I know the product is for babies – I was using it on my son.  Even babies can do with a little foam and smell can’t they? So I can’t find a reason why the older formulation needs to be replaced because it was already very gentle.  If this is a totally different formulation, then for goodness sake, give it a brand new packaging! And as a matter of fact, I can’t even find this so-called new formulation made with aloe and oat flour mentioned on their website. It’s a total waste of money because my son doesn’t want to be bathed in this and so no guesses for who has ended up using it.  It comes with a mild scent that I don’t fancy and it really doesn’t foam at all.

Foaming equals cleansing
I don’t think I’m very far off by saying most people equate non-foaming with non-cleansing. Due to how we’ve all been conditioned to feel, products that lather and foam somehow come across as being able to cleanse our skin and hair better because they tend to leave behind a clean, squeaky and refreshing sensation after they’ve been rinsed off. But we’ve also learnt that products that foam too much may contain harsh chemicals like SLS or SLES, which will strip off our natural lipids. So thank goodness these days, we have more cleansers made that are free from such harsh chemicals and yet are able to foam pretty well.

Non-foaming facial cleansers and shampoos
With facial cleansers, I think I can still tolerate the idea of a non-foaming formulation but it’s really not my preference to use them. They’re always said to be very mild and in my experience, okay to be used during the mornings but I don’t really find they cleanse off grime and dirt that well for me and I need at least two or sometimes three washes. As for shampoos, I’ve already made my stand in my entry “Do foam free shampoos work at all?” that I do not like those that do not foam as I don’t find that they cleanse my oily scalp very well, even after a second wash.  So what about shower gels?

Non-foaming and non-smelling shower gels
Hey, showering to me is both an unwinding and refreshing process.  Unless you’re sensitive to smell, I believe most people prefer to soak themselves in some soothing or sweet scent so what’s with fragrance free?  A little bit of smell from pure essential oils or botanical extract is not going to hurt is it? (Okay, fragrance free probably refer to those artificial fragrance.) And really, the more copious, lubricious and dense the foam, the cleaner I feel.  I like the idea of feeling clean and fresh after a bath and not wondering if I’m smelling musty or something!  Okay, I’m exaggerating a little here but you get the idea. Truly, sud free is okay in the mornings because I’m not dirty at all but after an entire day out under the hot weather, it’s another story altogether.  Plus, such non-foaming cleansers do nothing to get rid of the sunscreen I slather on my arms. Actually I was using the Natralia Nourish Naturals Dry Skin Wash prior to this and I was not griping so much. I guess I am just frustrated with the constant change in Burt’s Bees packaging that is thoroughly confusing IMO.

Anyway, I’m really curious.  How many of you don’t like your shower gels to lather or smell at all? If so, is there a particular reason?

Chic & trendy quilted handbags from cinda b

If you love quilted handbags and totes, then you might have caught sight of the cinda b range that were launched recently at Isetan Scotts, Tangs Orchard and Metro Paragon. The bags, priced from S$29, are designed and made in USA, and come in a variety of styles in fashion-forward prints and colors. I haven’t been keen on quilted bags really because those I’ve seen came across as slightly frumpy to me but I’ll say this range looks contemporary and chic. In fact, I received a number of compliments from my friends who spotted me in my new bags that the company sent me for a review.

cinda b mini hobo
Although I normally love totes because they’re so roomy and easy to use, I picked two smaller bags from the range. One is a Sweetleaf Pink Mini Hobo you see in the picture above. I gotta say the pink is gorgeous! Even my husband thought it’s pretty. Since it’s a mini, it means I can’t dump my entire bag organizer in there. However, it’s still roomy enough for most of my essentials, my umbrella and a small book. And though I can’t put my bag organizer in there, I can still organize some of my stuff properly in the bag with its four interior pockets. So no need for too much rummaging!

cinda b city satchel
At first glance, this bag looks pretty small too but surprise…it’s a good size as my entire bag organizer can fit in just nicely! So I’ll say this satchel is very functional as transferring bags becomes a real breeze. Aside from the interior pockets, I also like that this one comes with two convenient exterior pockets that allow me to fit some of my small items in them for easy access. I picked the Ravinia Ivory fabric because I’ve always wanted a white bag and this one is washable!

cinda b wrap-a-round clutch
This is a wristlet clutch that is great when you don’t have a need for a big bag but still need to take along your little essentials. I actually find such clutches are great for grocery shopping but for this one, I think it’s too glam looking for that purpose. More like something to take along for a night out. This measures 10.5″ x 5.5″ and the wrist strap is detachable so you can also use it just as a clutch if you like.

cinda b coin + camera
This little pouch didn’t impress upon me that it can hold my camera as mine is a little fat but again, I was surprised that it can! I can’t take a picture to show you because I don’t have a spare camera. However, I’m not going to use this to hold my camera nor my coins. Instead I’m going to use this to hold some of my important IDs and keys as it’s a good size for those working essentials.

Promotion and contest
I rather like this range of bags as the designs are fashionable enough and the quality is pretty good as the bags, made with poly/nylon fabrics that are not only durable, but water and stain resistant. Besides what you see here, you can also find totes, travel bags, baby bags, iPhone cases and cosmetic pouches in the range. As mentioned, prices of the bags start from S$29 and for a limited period now, you can enjoy a 10% discount off the range retailing at Tangs Orchard & Metro Paragon. For more designs of the bags, check out the cinda b facebook page. It’s a good idea to become a fan of their Facebook page because I understand the company is going to give away a handbag set including a City Satchel, Coin+Camera and Small cosmetic bag worth S$249 real soon. So become a fan, stalk the page and maybe you want to start taking pictures of your ugly or worn out handbag too! *wink*

I’ve also uploaded more pictures of the bags and accessories I’ve received on the Viva Woman Facebook page so head over to take a good look on them!

DIY Beauty: fix your beauty with that cooking oil

Some readers had responded to my post of yesterday on my Facebook page instead and amongst them, Hui Hui, who was sharing her must-have beauty item in her bag mentioned something interesting about using extra virgin olive oil as her lip balm.

…try using extra virgin olive oil as lip balm.. it is natural, effective and it is not harmful even if you swallow it! Cheap & effective! It cured my REALLY dry chapped lips last time.

Yes, truly. Extra virgin olive oil or EVOO for short, is not just good for cooking, it is great as a beauty fix too! And there are so many ways you can use this kitchen oil, just straight from the bottle!

Lip balm and cuticle moisturizer on the go
Other than being used as a lip balm, you can also rub some into your dry cuticles. Some people may find it a chore to use this, thinking it’s difficult to carry it around. Well, it’s a chore if you’re thinking of carrying the entire big bottle around but you can transfer some of the oil into those small plastic dispensers, like what you see in the picture, which makes it easy to bring the oil around. I got mine from Sasa and it’s so handy.

Dry hands savior
I wrote a post (click through to read) about using extra virgin olive oil to moisturize dry hands. Granted it’s a little messy but it’s really effective. And all you need are just EVOO and a pair of disposable gloves.

Smooth silk hands
This is my simple recipe to keep your hands silky smooth:
- 5 teaspoons of brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons of honey
- 3 teaspoons of extra virgin oil

I found this really great for exfoliation and moisturizing as I don’t need to use a separate hand cream afterwards. Because I didn’t want to attract ants, I only used it on my hands. You can increase the amount made and use it as a body scrub too. And if you can get really fine granulated sugar, you can use it as a lip scrub too.

Emergency makeup remover
Okay, I don’t always use this but it’s during emergency when I run out of stuff to remove my eye makeup. Just pour a little onto a cotton pad and wipe. However, it is really oily, and so you’ll need a foaming cleanser to wash off. I don’t recommend using this for the entire face as it is too oily. It’ll work if you’re into the oil cleansing method where really hot water is used.

Other ways to use extra virgin cooking oil
I think there are tons of ways you can use the oil but I’m only sharing those I know or have tried personally. The oil can also be used to tame frizzy hair, soften cracked heels or hardened spots on your knees or elbows. You just need to think beyond cooking!

Share: what’s the must-have item in your bag?

I remember someone asking this question at a workshop I attended eons ago – what is the one item you must have with you when you’re out? So let me modify the question here a little for the VivaBellas reading this – what is the one beauty item you must have in your bag when you’re out?

Is it a lip balm? A lipstick? A foundation powder? A sunscreen? A handcream? A mirror? A hand sanitizer? A pack of tissue? Or something else?

Well, mine is a comb. Heh. Many people don’t know but I belong to that category that will potentially ask anyone I’ve just met: “is my hair messy”? Okay, okay, I don’t ask. Very often, I’ll just whip out my comb and brush my hair. Friends who know me well are not surprised that this is the first thing I do when I meet them. My hair must look neat at all times! So yes, I detest fan and strong wind that mess up my hair! I do try to comb my hair in private, like in the restrooms, but some times I really can’t and I’ll be whipping out my comb when I am:
- taking a crowded lift.
- traveling up or down an escalator.
- traveling in a crowded train.
- peering into the side mirror of a car.
- looking into my reflection at a retail store.

Ha. I think you get the idea. I can be walking and combing my hair too and if I am able, I’ll be glad to bring my comb when I’m in the middle of a swimming pool too.

So tell me, if you can only have one beauty item in your bag, what must it be?

Charles of the ritz perfect finish eyecolor Eat papaya to get rid of wrinkles & a round tummy

Some people seem to love papaya and that’s really wonderful for them! I know it’s a good fruit all right but it’s another thing altogether to want to eat this stuff. I’m sorry to say this but the smell and taste totally puts me off. The closest I can charles of the ritz perfect finish eyecolor get is to use paw paw balms! So I’m really losing out on the goodness of this fruit because it can help one reduce wrinkles, and at the same time, maintain a flat tummy.

Reduces inflammation and promotes skin healing
Papaya contains several unique protein-digesting enzymes including papain and chymopapain. These enzymes have been shown to help lower inflammation and to improve healing from burns. In addition, the antioxidant nutrients found in papaya, including vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta-carotene, are also very good at reducing inflammation. (source: WhFoods.com). So when taken frequently, papaya can help restore skin elasticity since vitamin C also helps the manufacture of collagen too. Another thing to note is that paw paw is well known for having antiseptic qualities too when applied topically and that’s the primary benefits of those paw paw balms.

Promotes a flatter tummy
Papain also aids protein digestion as it helps break down protein in the food you eat. I didn’t know too much about the connection between weight loss and papaya until Jo of Lolita mentioned to me and upon research, I found out that the potassium and fibre in papayas help to tighten the tummy. I can’t seem to locate any research backing this up but various websites on the Net do promote this information. But I remember Jo telling me that she lost weight eating this stuff so it must be able to work some magic.

Do you like papayas?
I don’t have a tummy issue but I would love to enjoy the anti-inflammatory benefits for better skin. However, I can never ever acquire the taste of eating papayas. How charles of the ritz perfect finish eyecolor about you ladies? Do you like papayas? Or are you like me, having a hard time smelling the fruit even?

Ah Yuan…Ah Yuan, can you wash my hair?

I know a number of you use Yuan Soaps from Taiwan, which are available at Unity Pharmacy and a number of organic stores in Singapore. However, are any of you using Yuan Shampoos too? I know the product exists but I’ve never seen it around. I only received these two samples recently through Reese, who distributes the Yuan range of products in Malaysia.

Yuan has introduced five types of shampoos for different hair types:
1. Lemon Shampoo(平衡净化)
2. Momoridca Shampoo(清凉疏风)
3. Mulberry&Chrysanthemum Shampoo(温和轻爽)
4. Swertia Shampoo(养润活化)
5. Tangerine Shampoo (洁净柔顺)
These shampoos are created to cleanse the scalp for the hair follicles to receive the nutrients from the plant extracts and Chinese herbs extracts. You won’t see silicones or the usual list of harsh sulfates. Plus, I learnt that the shampoos are 98% biodegradeable, and I suppose it means they’re non-polluting when they’re flushed down those water pipes right? So those benefits aside, how did they perform for my hair, which I always describe as – limp, fine with an oily scalp?

Yuan Tangerine Shampoo (洁净柔顺)

Main Ingredients: Mandarin,Orange, Bergamot,Petitgrain, Eucalyptus, Japanese Honeysuckle, Dandelion, Violet Herb, Chrysanthemum Sinense Flower, Semiagvilegia Adoxoides Root Extract

The Yuan Tangerine Shampoo has a nice citrus scent with a hint of herbal goodness. It doesn’t lather up a lot of foam so I had to wash my hair twice using this. Surprisingly, the second lather wasn’t so great either but my hair was quite clean after using it. Since there was no Yuan conditioner, I used my own. Okay, this one is really great for improving the silkiness of my hair. They truly looked and felt silky soft. However, I can’t say too much about deep cleansing. I have really oily scalp that needs cleansing daily and this one didn’t help much. My hair oiled quite quickly to my dismay. So I suppose this might work better for those with not so oily scalp but needs to improve the smooth factor for their hair.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Yuan Momoridca Shampoo(清凉疏风)

Main Ingredients: Deionized Water, Disoudium Cocoamphodiadetate, Glycerin, Rosemary, Grapefruit, Mint Oil, Momoridca Charantia Fruit, Lonicera Japonica Flower, Taraxacum Officinale, Viola Yedoenesis, Chrysanthemum Sinense Flower, Semiagvilegia Adoxoides Root Extract

Yuan Momoridca Shampoo did a better job for me. In fact, I probably would purchase this if I can get my hands on them in Singapore. I am not so keen on the strong minty smell in this one but my hair felt truly fresh and cool upon using this. It lathers better than the tangerine one but not exceptionally foamy either. I also shampooed my hair twice with this. And same thing, I used my own conditioner afterwards. As a whole, my hair looked fairly soft and manageable, not too flat either but the good thing was this one has good oil control. By the next morning, my hair still looked pretty acceptable.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Availability within and outside Malaysia
You can find out more information about Yuan Shampoos on Reese’s website. The shampoos are priced from RM75.50 to RM88.50 for each 250ml bottle, and available online or at a few retail spots within Malaysia. Like I mentioned, I’ve seen Yuan soaps around but not their range of shampoos yet. So if any of you have seen them being retailed in Singapore, do tell us where in the comments section.

Six different ways to apply skin care products

Recently, I placed an order for a product that I didn’t like so much in terms of application. I had some problems applying the product the first time but because I had loved the results from using it, I decided to re-order the product and then apply it a different way. This first time around, I blended the product into my palm and then patted on my face using my fingers instead of sweeping the lotion over my face! It was a lot easy and better this time! So this got me thinking of writing this post about the different ways we can apply our skin care products.

1. Apply a pea size amount with your fingers
This should be the most common way where you squeeze a pea size amount into the center of your palm, and then using the fingertips of the other hand to apply onto your face. This is probably the method I use most frequently and I typically start by applying the product onto both my cheek area before my chin area, my forehead and then moving down to my nose. I usually use this when applying face cream and sunscreen.

2. Warm the cream using the center of your palm
This method is good for really thick cream, which I learnt when I was using Creme de Lar Mer a couple of years back. Because the cream is so thick, you should use a pea size amount or even lesser, place it into the center of your palm then rub, or pat both your palms together to “warm up the cream”. Certain creams may liquify but others may just turn a little less creamy, which allows you to easily apply onto your face without the thick consistency.

3. Apply 5 dots on your face and blend
I hope I won’t offend anyone by saying this but somehow, I associate this method with the old school of skincare. In the past, many beauty consultants seem to encourage this approach of skin care application and it’s even stated on the instructions of some products. The 5 dots denote applying a small blob of cream on your two cheek area, your nose, your forehead and your chin. I believe it is still a common skin care application technique and I find myself going back to this approach when I apply my face mask. However, I tend to apply more than usual when I use this 5 dots method.

4. Pat the cream or lotion into your face
This is a common way to apply facial toner if you don’t use a cotton pad. Pour the toner into the center of your palm and then using your fingers to lightly pat or tap into your face. Actually, I’m not very gentle whenever I use this method. I literally slap my face in an energetic fashion whenever I apply my face toner. It’s kind of for fun and at the same time, I believe it helps to aid blood circulation and increase absorption of the toner.

5. Press the lotion or oil into your face
If you’ve use some of the Japanese lotions, then you should be quite familiar with this technique. Again, you’ll pour the lotion into the center of your palm and then using the other palm, press both hands together and then continue to press the lotion into all areas of your face. I use this method when applying my facial oil.

6. Massage the cream, lotion or oil into your face
This is actually an extension of any of the above methods, followed by a more intensive massage on your face. I do that using my facial oil. After I have pressed the oil onto my entire face, I then proceed to massage the oil on my cheek area, using one or two hands in an upward, outward sweeping fashion starting from my jawline to the area near my ear.

So how do you normally apply your skin care products? Are there any other ways you can share with us?

Prestige beauty bar lip palette Share: what time do you wash your hair?

Earlier this week, I picked up a Chinese book in the local bookstore about beauty and came across some interesting information regarding the best time to wash our hair. It stated prestige beauty bar lip palette specifically that we shouldn’t be washing our hair early in the morning and late in the night. Oh geez…I wash my hair first thing in the morning when I jump out of bed every day for almost my entire life now! In fact, some days as early as 4am! So what gives?

Cold temperature not good for our head
According to the book, the temperature is a lot colder in the early morning and late in the night so it isn’t really good for our health if we wash our hair then. It doesn’t say what problems it’ll create but I imagine it may be something connected to PHD – Permanent Head Damage! Okay, okay, just kidding…the fact that I’m still able to string coherent sentences here after so many years of washing my hair in the wee hours means I don’t have PHD.

Not good to wash your hair just before you sleep
But the author of the book did state that if we do wash our hair during those ungodly time of the day, then it’s best to blow dry our hair. This is particularly so for those who wash their hair late in the night as it is really not advisable to go to bed with wet hair. This one I believe, and based on some old wives’ tale, I think sleeping with a head of wet hair might contribute to headaches prestige beauty bar lip palette and migraines. But truly, going to bed with wet hair might cause more problems such as hair getting into an odd shape, having bad smell and your pillows turning moldy!

One hour before or after meal
So what’s the best time to wash our hair? Well, from what I read, it’s one hour before or after dinner. Okay, don’t ask me how this came about and there is definitely no research to back this one up. My guess is that it’s got something to do with the body temperature and hence, I think it should be good to wash your hair one hour before or after lunch too. And if we go by the logic behind not washing our hair in the wee hours, then I suppose if you wash them in warm water and blow dry your hair with warm air immediately after, you’ll be forever saved from PHD.

Never mind if this sounds like some bull to you, but can you share with us – what time do you wash your hair?

Elizabeth arden sheer lights illuminating tinted moisturizer spf 15 1 7 fl oz Wanna slim down? Eat Kimchi the Korean way

If one of your new year’s resolution is to slim down, then I have very good news for you if you’re a lover of Korean food, in particular, Kimchi. For Kimchi, also spelled gimchi, is said to be able to help reduce fats as this dish contains a high concentration of dietary elizabeth arden sheer lights illuminating tinted moisturizer spf 15 1 7 fl oz fiber, while being low in calories.

Stay slim with Kimchi fried rice for supper
Well, how do I know? I don’t because I don’t eat Kimchi at all but I picked up this tip from Jo of Lolita, who told us how she learnt of it through her girlfriend who never put on weight despite eating a frequent supper of Kimchi fried rice! Interesting isn’t it? So I was intrigued and went on to do some online research and I found various sources promoting Kimchi diet as a way to slim down!

Research shows South Koreans have relatively low prevalence of obesity
According to this paper published by the Research Institute of Food and Nutritional Sciences, Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea has a relatively low prevalence of obesity compared with other Asian countries. The research suggests that the traditional Korean diet, which is a low-fat and high-vegetable diet, has played an important part in maintaining this healthy trend. And in discussing the traditional Korean diet, Kimchi was highlighted within the paper and how its ingredients such as radishes, Chinese cabbage, green onions, and garlic account for the high total vegetable intake.

Healthy diet with antimicrobial ingredients
Actually, it kind of make sense since a high cabbage intake contributes to lots of fiber plus the other ingredients of Kimchi promotes intestinal health and helps lower cholesterol. Plus, it’s not oily and it is also possible to make a Kimichi with low sodium so I guess it’s pretty healthy. I’m not into Kimchi but I do take a fair bit of Chinese cabbage and find that it always promote *ahem* flatulence. So yeah, you’ll get lots of fiber eating this one all right!

So any of you liking Kimchi or planning to eat tons of it now elizabeth arden sheer lights illuminating tinted moisturizer spf 15 1 7 fl oz that you know it can help you stay slim?

Loreal foundation makeup My new fluttering eyelashes thanks to Novalash

Hello Vivabellas! What new beauty treats or products did you get this new year? Well, for me, I went for an eyelash extension and got myself brand new fluttering eyelashes! Well, even I was surprised at my loreal foundation makeup decision to do this, considering I am someone who repelled against wearing falsies and the one time I had them on was during my wedding but I actually tore them off as soon as the makeup artist was out of sight. Ha! So should I say vanity and curiosity got the better of me this time and since I didn’t have to pay for the service and was promised that I won’t emerge from the extension looking remotely like barbie doll, I decided to give it a shot.

Lightweight lashes that are applied lash-by-lash
My eyelash extension was done at Lolita, the only store in Singapore that offers NovaLash eyelash extensions. This extension approach is special because instead of the usual clustered lashes used for most eyelash extensions, here we have semi-permanent individual lashes meticulously applied lash-by-lash, bonded with medical-grade adhesives, by certified professional NovaLash extensionists. I haven’t done any eyelash extension before so I can’t make any effective comparisons in terms of the lashes. However, my bestie who also had the same Novalash extension done on her eyelashes confirmed that Novalash lashes are very light. She had learnt eyelash extension some time back so she definitely knows more than me.

Advantages over cluster lashes
Besides being weightless, Novalash eyelash extension technique allows natural lashes to grow loreal foundation makeup and thrive. Compared to the usual cluster lashes that are commonly used in the eyelash extension market, Novalash eyelashes have to be applied lash-by-lash. Hence, without several natural lashes stuck together to a cluster, this would not cause a faster growing natural lash to pull out slower growing lashes from the root and then causing permanent damage to our eyelash follicle. Additionally, the Novalash eyelash extension technique does not clog our eyelash follicle as no adhesive is applied to our eyelid. This is why this technique ensures no “poking feel” after the extension is done. In fact, I would say I don’t even feel like I have eyelash extension unless I touch it. And those concerned about product safety would probably be pleased to know that only formaldehyde-free, pharmaceutical-grade lash extension adhesives are used.

Application techniques of the eyelash extensionist
I used to think that eyelash extension would make my eyes look very unnatural but apparently, I’ve been mistaken as I didn’t realize that we can still look natural through the choice of eyelash extensions as they come in different texture and length. Interestingly, I found out that how the lashes are adhered on our natural lashes also makes a difference. Okay, I learnt of three techniques at Lolita – top, bottom and side – but I only remember that we can get fuller looking lashes when the extensionist bond the lashes on the side of our eyelases. I can’t quite remember the results from the other two techniques now.

Eyelash extension cycle
Apparently, the Novalash eyelash extension can last about 4 weeks based on our own natural lash growth cycle if properly cared for. Thereafter, you can maintain the look via touchup services. The reason why this extension can last longer is because the extensionists extend based on the new growth of our eyelashes, rather than extending using our matured lashes.

Care for the Novalash eyelash extension
I do like the new look I have but I have to say I needed time to get used to them. Although I felt like I had nothing on now, but as soon as I’m washing my face, I can feel them on my eyes. It took me a while to get used to the idea and the good thing is, I don’t wear a lot of eye makeup and so I don’t need to use a special eye cleanser because loreal foundation makeup I was told I should not use an oil product near my eyes as that would damage the extensions. In addition, if you have your eyelash extended, make sure you don’t rub and scratch your eyes!

Price menu
Okay, here are the prices for the Novalash eyelash extension:

Loreal plenitude shine control double action toner Refillable skin-activating Infotone Face Mist

I know a number of you use face mist frequently and it probably counts as an essential beauty item for you. This means that it’s a repeat purchase and if we go by the usual brands around, it’s quite easy to chalk up anything from $70 to S$150 per year, depending on how much you use this item on a daily basis. I use my face mist on a daily basis, often doubling them up as face toner and to mix products, and this means my usage is high and it would be definitely be lovely if I can reduce this expense. Well, I recently received a face mist that allows me to do just that loreal plenitude shine control double action toner because I can refill using simple spring water such as those from Evian, Volvic, Fiji, Ice Mountain or even purified tap water and yet enjoy several skin-activating benefits because of a special technology within the bottle.

Utilizes a natural skin healing activating mechanism
Called Infotone Face Mist, this unique product is said to utilize an advanced water technology as each bottle contains a non-toxic and 100% natural mineral clay ceramic ball that features AquaLiv’s BioTâ„¢ Bioinformation Technology – this ceramic ball in the glass bottle is able to turn regular water into a powerful tonic that when misted over the face, encouraging optimal hydration and clear, youthful, glowing skin. No chemical ingredients are added and according to the company, researchers also observed improved suppleness, firmness, reduced dryness, oxidation, wrinkles, skin pigmentation, and blemishes. It works by first eliminating factors that obstruct the soundness of skin and second, by activating skin’s natural healing mechanisms. While the exact bioinformation program is confidential, I found out that this product include Squalene, Phytoncide, and Vitamin C, all of which have skin benefiting properties. And interestingly, I found out that Infotone was also designed to eliminate a common parasite that is often responsible for blemishes and irritated skin.

Provide skin hydration
This product was sent to me complimentary from Aqualiv. Although I was intrigued by the product, I wasn’t really loreal plenitude shine control double action toner expecting too much in terms of its skin healing properties. I mean, it just sounds too good to be true isn’t it? But I’ve been using it to replace my skin toner in the evening and I always remember to let it sit on my skin for a good one minute before patting it into my skin. I would say the hydration is good but not astounding for me. Just that I noticed that when I was testing a hydrating serum after using this face mist, my skin couldn’t absorb the serum too well so I guess my skin is already well hydrated using this Infotone Face Mist?

Heals my skin blemishes well
I don’t really mist it too much in the day though but what I found is that my skin does look a tad more dewy than usual after using this for awhile now. But what impressed me most is that my blemishes healed a lot faster using this! Very interesting because I didn’t make the immediate connection that it was because of this product since I was also using other gels on those blemishes. I only realized it because of a blemish that I applied nothing else to healing up very nicely this morning.

Cost and availability
Aside from those two benefits, I can’t say that this product has even out my skin tone nor reduce wrinkles but I guess that might happen if I use this product for a longer period. (I definitely would welcome those benefits!) But I really like the idea of saving more using a product like that because it is refillable. A bottle is now on sale for US$34.97 and considering this product can last a full year because it is refillable, I would agree that is is both green and inexpensive. Plus I always like to use natural spring water in my DIY recipes so this will enhance my recipe, given its skin-activating properties! The only drawback is that the product is only shipped in US and Canada at the moment so those in Singapore may have to make alternative arrangements to get the product in. But I have put aside one bottle for my monthly VivaBella giveaway. So one of you maybe able to lay your hands on it. *wink wink*

For more information on the product, check out their website.

Organic olive essence body care by Spa de Soleil

~ To kick start the brand new year, I have the first part of a guest post from Crystal of Watermoolen on products from Spa de Soliel, which were sent complimentary to her for review on behalf of Viva Woman. ~

Spa de Soleil Organic Olive Essence Body Butter
Home Spa Collection is an e-commerce store that sells a variety of skincare products depending on your skincare/haircare (i.e., anti-aging, acne). I’ve never heard of the online store before, but the company has been featured in magazines like Marie Claire, Red Book, and Shape Magazine.

The company claims that they create their products within days of the order so that each product can be fresh when sent to your home. In addition, all of Home Spa Collection products do not contain any parabens and mineral oils since the company believes in producing natural, eco-friendly skincare/haircare products.

I was thankful enough to sent four samples of the Home Spa Collection’s organic line, Organic Olive Essence to try out for a month. This line is also certified organic by the USDA through CCOF and OASIS and is in the final process through NSF and Eco-Cert (U.S. organic certifications). Each review will focus on one product, and I will be talking about the Organic Body Butter.

All organic and natural ingredients. No parabens.

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Organic Oryza Sativa (rice) Extract, Organic Coconut Acid, Organic Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) Butter, Organic Elaeis Guineensis (palm) Butter, Organic Theobroma Cacao (cocoa) Seed Butter, Organic Vitis Vinifera (grape) Seed Oil, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba ) Seed Oil, Organic Carthamus Tinctorius (safflower) Seed Oil, Organic Helianthus Annuus (sunflower) Seed Oil, Organic Sesamum Indicum (sesame) Seed Oil, Organic Chamomilla Recutita (matricaria) Flower Extract, Organic Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Organic Cucumis Sativus (cucumber) Fruit Extract, Organic Lavandula Spica (lavender) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Organic Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (sweet almond) Oil, Organic Persea Gratissima (avocado) Oil, Organic Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Organic Citrus Medica Limonum (lemon) Peel Oil, Spherical Silica, Organic Guar Gum, Organic Safe Guard.

What struck me by surprise was that the Organic Olive Essence line emphasizes the benefits of using olive oil in their ingredients, but the body butter did not contain any of that. In fact, the main ingredients were aloe vera juice, rice extract, coconut acid, and shea butter. Aside from that, I really liked the ingredients they had in this product. There were certainly no parabens or any chemically enhanced ingredients which made this body butter already enticing before use.

Texture and application
By looking at it, it looks quite thick (very thick icing!) and I thought it would be hard to apply on. I’ve had bad experiences with organic products before where I literally had to use all my force on my hand to apply the product to my skin. As promised by the product description, it was very easy to apply onto my dry legs! In addition, it didn’t feel too oily or too drying on my skin.

I have dry skin during the wintertime, and I apply a good amount on every night after I shower. Once applied, the body butter did make my legs feel a bit more moisturized which some other non-organic body butters couldn’t do. I did try putting more than directed but it didn’t really improve my skin anyway! Even a month’s use, there wasn’t a real significant improvement to my dry skin. It did help a bit as a moisturizer where my legs did retain more moisture compared to some other brands.

Light Scent
The scent is so wonderful! My past experiences with organic cleansers and creams smell either like grass or some wild forest, which explains why most organic/natural products include fragrances to “mask” the real smell. Because this butter includes so many oils, I can’t really pinpoint how it really smells like. But, the scent is quite aroma-therapeutic, and I like how the light scent stays with me throughout the night.

Packaging and Pricing
The body butter only comes in an 8oz ($22.99) jar which will last you up to three to four months if applied nightly or every other day. However, the product itself lasts up to 24 months so don’t worry if you only want to use it during the wintertime!

Although this body butter didn’t quite cure me of my dry, flaky legs, I still enjoyed using this as a night regimen for my legs. I think it’s a great body butter and is much comparable to brands like Victoria’s Secret and even better because of the light, natural fragrance. I also use this as a hand lotion whenever I want to re-smell the fragrance! I simply love the fragrance, if you can’t tell! Again, you can get this online at Home Spa Collection.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 hearts

Spa de Soleil Organic Olive Essence Hand Cream
When it comes to hand creams, I get quite picky because I tend to choose fragrance-free or light scented hand cream/lotions. It’s because when the scent lingers on my hands throughout the day, I get sick of it easily and don’t even want to even use more lotion. So I was really hoping the Organic Olive Essence hand cream can cure my winter dry hands. It only comes in a 6 oz squeeze bottle and retails for $21.99 at Home Spa Collection.

All organic ingredients. Contains “olive” extract.

Ingredients: Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Organic Oryza Sativa (rice) Extract, Organic Coconut Acid, Butyrospermum Parkii (shea) Butter, Elaeis Guineensis (palm) Butter, Theobroma Cacao (cocoa) Seed Butter, Vitis Vinifera (grape) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba) Seed Oil, Organic Safe Guard, Organic Vitis Vinifera (grape) Seed Oil, Organic Carthamus Tinctorius (safflower) Seed Oil, Organic Olea Europaea (olive) Fruit Oil, Organic Chamomilla Recutita (matricaria) Flower Extract, Organic Olea Europaea (olive) Fruit Extract, Organic Melaleuca Alternifolia (tea tree) Oil, Organic Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Organic Echinacea Purpurea Powder, Organic Citrus Medica Limonum (lemon) Peel Oil, Organic Guar Gum.

The Organic Olive Essence line claims to have olive fruit extracts. From what I know about olive fruit and olive oil is that they can be moisturizing (think of the olive oil in cooking) and can give the skin a natural looking glow. However, the olive fruit extract is not the main ingredient of this hand cream. It’s not a really big deal to me since I see that there are really good ingredients in the cream, such as jojoba oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter which are good moisturizing agents. It’s also good that the extracts/oils are organic and that this hand cream actually contains the olive extract, unlike the body butter I reviewed.

Great Scent
If you’ve ever tried L’occitane rose hand creams, then you’ll know what I mean when I say that this Organic Olive Essence hand cream smells like that! Without that comparison, this hand cream has a mild rose scent. At first, I was put off by it because I usually don’t like rose-smelling products (bad experience from $1.00 rose petal potpourri). But, after a few tries, this light yet good smelling aroma really grew on me. The weird thing is that there is no rose ingredient in the hand cream, so I don’t know exactly what oils made the hand cream smell like that.

Texture and Application
I was hoping that it was thicker but from experience, any product that contains aloe vera as the main ingredient usually isn’t thick. The texture is between gelly and creamy, so it wasn’t so hard to apply onto my hands. The label also claims that this hand cream will make your hands “look and feel younger.” I’m not so sure about that. I’ve used this everyday for about a month and it didn’t really make my hands look any younger. It didn’t really help with my dry skin since my workplace requires frequent cleaning of hands. However, for normal-oily skin, this would be a safe bet!

Although the hand cream can be a bit pricey, you have to consider the fact that it contains no parabens and all organic ingredients. You can bet that you are putting good, essential oils onto your skin for the same moisturizing benefits as chemically-filled lotions. Like I said before, this hand cream would be suitable for normal-oily skin types because my hands are a bit dry and the cream only provided light moisturizing.

Rating: 4 out of 5 hearts

Look out for Crystal’s next review coming up soon. Meanwhile, you can check out these products at Home Spa Collection.

I really like Almay's eye color specific eyeliners, both pencil and liquid.
The pencils have a nice consistency and gorgeous multi-tonal colors, but do fade by the end of the day.

Lancome adaptive all day skin balancing makeup spf 10 Omorovicza mineral-rich skin care from Budapest

I have no idea how Omorovicza sounds like but I now have a sense of how it feels like, having tried some of their products, in particular the Omorovicza Reviving Eye Cream. This is marketed as a natural, anti-aging skin care range that leverages on the mineral-rich, healing thermal waters in Budapest via a patented delivery system known as Mineral Cosmetology. The first thing I found lancome adaptive all day skin balancing makeup spf 10 out while reading about this brand is that there are more thermal water sites in Budapest than any other city in the world and because the earth’s crust is thinner there, and so the waters absorb the beneficial minerals more effectively. So what you have in the Omorovicza range are products that can effectively penetrate our skin with their minerals and trace elements found in Hungarian thermal waters. And apparently, this brand has gained a cult following amongst celebrities.

Best sellers
The Omorovicza range was launched in 2006 and looking at the steep price points, is definitely considered a luxurious anti-aging range. I haven’t come across this brand until the company contacted me and asked if I was interested to review their products. Since I have no idea what to try, I asked about their best sellers and was told that the Thermal Cleansing Balm, followed by the Reviving Eye Cream and the Queen of Hungary Mist were their star products. I picked the Omorovicza Reviving Eye Cream because I wanted something I could use both in the day and night as the one I was using at that time could only be used at night.

Omorovicza Reviving Eye Cream US$135

Ingredients: Aqua (Hungarian Thermal Water), Glycerin, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Squalane, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Stearyl Heptanoate, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Distillate, Hellianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Alfalfa (Lucern) Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Mannitol, Yeast Extract, Zinc gluconate, Magnesium aspartate, Copper gluconate, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Laminaria Digitata Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Pectin, Chlorella Vulgaris/Lupinus Albus Protein Ferment, Hydrolyzed Hazelnut Protein, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil, Prunus Domestica (Plum) Seed Extract, Malpighia Punicifolia (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Xanthan Gum.

Product description
The Omorovicza Reviving Eye Cream is said to help lift and firm the eye contour, whilst refreshing tired eyes, reducing puffiness and eliminating dark circles. Key ingredients include Arnica to reduce puffiness, Vitamin K, from lucernoil, to diminishe lancome adaptive all day skin balancing makeup spf 10 dark circles, cucumber extract to soothe and refresh the eye contour and hazelnut peptide to firm and lift, minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Packaging
The 0.5 fl oz see-through glass bottle is quite small but should last a couple of months since I don’t need to use a lot for my eye area. The packaging is simple and I like the locking mechanism found in the pump bottle.

Texture and application
I started using this product sometime end of November and because I wanted to be fair to this product, so I stopped using whatever eye product I was using then. The interesting thing I found when I started using this eye cream is the tingling sensation on my skin as soon as I apply this. In fact, the tingling sensation still happens now. So that convinced me somewhat that the product is penetrating into the deeper layers of my eye area. There is no redness after application and the eye area is soothed and feels comfortable. Although called an eye cream, the texture of this product is not thick and creamy and so I applied without any worries about developing milia seeds.

After effects
For the price point and the fact that this is one of their best sellers, I would really love to rave about this product but I can’t. It soothes and refreshes all right but I do not see noticeable effects in improving the other aspects of my eye area after using this for about a month now. This could be one of those products that take a longer while to work for me as I’ve come across instances where I need three to five months before an eye product delivers any visible results for my delicate eye area.

Other products
On top of the eye cream, the company also sent me some sachets of their other products to try.  Amongst these, I tried the Omorovicza Rose lancome adaptive all day skin balancing makeup spf 10 Lifting Serum, the Omorovicza Rejuvenating Night Cream and the Omorovicza Instant Plumping Cream. I can’t say too much about the results because I’ve only tried them once or twice but in terms of texture, they all worked very well for me as in there were no excessive greasiness and I did not break out using them. But looking at the prices, I’m unlikely to purchase the range. I’ll be more than happy to be gifted with the items though. Heh. And I certainly will have no complaints if my skin was treated to the range of products at a spa as I understand that the Omorovicza range is also used by some spas for treatments around the world.

Availability
Apart from Hungary, the Omorovicza range of luxurious skin care products are available in countries including US, UK, Canada, India, Indonesia Hong Kong, and even Singapore at Wen Lux Spa located at 6 Bukit Pasoh Road.  To find out where to get the products in the other countries, look up details on their international website.

Maybelline unstoppable mascara Share: do you often rest your face on your hands?

Hey VivaBellas, are you daydreaming on your desk or your bed? Or maybe taking time to plan maybelline unstoppable mascara ahead for 2011? Well, if you are, let’s do a quick check: do you have any of your hands rested on your chin, on one side of your face or maybe both sides while doing so? Or maybe you’re so comfortable that you’re about to fall asleep on one of your hands even?

Well, if you’ve got this habit of resting your face on your hands or should I say propping your face with your hands, then one advice I have for you moving on to 2011 is, kick this habit in the new year. Why? Well, whatever you’re doing is causing that part of your face to be inevitably pressed and in the long run, may affect the face shape or worst, cause wrinkles to form or lines to deepen.

And I said MAY only because I’m speaking from my own experience. Like the first top left picture, I had this habit of resting my left hand on my left cheek while thinking in the past and guess what. I noticed that I have some fine lines near the nasolabial groove on that side of the face. There could be other factors contributing to those lines but I’m pretty sure my hand had a part in it.

So tell me, do you have this habit?

Alexandra de markoff countess isserlyn loose powdermist Neeta’s Herbal Ayuvedics hair loss treatment

“It is foolish to tear one’s alexandra de markoff countess isserlyn loose powdermist hair in grief, as though sorrow would be made less with baldness.” So said great Roman orator, Marcus Tullius Cicero. Well, I can’t agree more. So I’m quite sure he would have agreed with me that it is good to seek more hair when one is presented the opportunity just in case one becomes excessively grieved. Like I did when I was invited to try this natural Ayurvedic solution to hair loss at Neeta’s Herbal Hair Loss Centre that specializes solely in treating hair loss & promoting hair growth. I definitely can do with more hair on my crown!

First outlet in Singapore
I was told Neeta’s Herbal has been around for 26 years with outlets in USA, UK, Malaysia, India, Iran, Dubai, Brunei, Australia and this is the first outlet in Singapore, operating since March this year at Novena Square 2. Lydia, who is a senior flight stewardess with Emirates Airlines, decided to open the outlet here after benefiting from the products and treatments herself. And what prompted me to accept her invitation was because I was keen to understand more about hair growth using ancient Ayuvedics principals and natural herbal products.

Laid-back ambience
Neeta’s Herbal Hair Loss Treatment Centre is conveniently located at Novena Square 2. It’s a no frills treatment centre that reminds me of a high-end barber shop. In fact, I thought I was transported back to the 80s with the music selection playing on the background while I was receiving my treatment. The interior isn’t what I would describe as cozy but the dim walls definitely made me real sleepy throughout the treatment session. ZZZzzzz…

A 4-step treatment process
I was briefed on the treatment process and also had my scalp analyzed via a computerized scanner. Then I proceeded with the Ozone treatment, which involved a high frequency machine sending some electric shocks to my scalp. Okay, it sounds a little scary but the sensation is very mild and this treatment is meant to “wake” the follicles by improving the blood circulation on my scalp. This process will prepare the scalp to receive the special blend of Neeta’s Herbal Hair Oil, which was thoroughly massaged on my scalp for a few minutes before following on with steaming to ensure the penetration of the hair oil into the follicles. After the steaming, my hair was treated to Neeta’s Herbal Amla Hair Mask before proceeding for the final shampoo and blow dry.

No frills after treatment
The entire treatment lasted about two hours and half the time, I was dozing off. But although dozing off, I was aware of what was done to my hair of course. The entire treatment was pleasant for me except for the shampoo session. I didn’t like the way the therapist handled my head to wash the sides of my hair; she wasn’t rough or anything but I’m just not used to that sort of hair wash method. The blow dry was really just a blow dry as it came with no styling that we expect from the usual hair alexandra de markoff countess isserlyn loose powdermist salons. I was told by Lydia that this is because they do not wish to damage customers’ hair with extensive blow-drying and hence, all hair are blown dry naturally with minimum heat.

Hair follicles unclogged after treatment
My scalp was scanned again after the entire treatment and I was happy to see that there was a marked improvement to my scalp condition. Before the treatment, I could see my follicles slightly clogged and oozing with oil even though I had just shampooed my hair that morning. After the treatment, I could see the unclogged follicles clearly and even some of the semi-closed follicles, meaning there is hope that I can get new hair growth from them.

My overall assessment
I’ll say Neeta’s Herbal Hair Loss Treatment Centre isn’t your upmarket sort of hair treatment salons; so don’t go there expecting anything luxurious or pampering. But based on the one-time result I received, I think this place is for those serious about treating their hair loss issues via natural products. You probably will see some improvement to your scalp condition after the first treatment but it’s more realistic to expect hair growth after a few sessions.

Price and promotion for Viva Woman readers
The usual price for the treatment I received is S$99 but Lydia has offered a promotional price for alexandra de markoff countess isserlyn loose powdermist my readers at $79 for the 1st trial. You can continue to enjoy the $79 nett per session when you sign-up for their *Full Package* or *Maintenance Package*. In my case, I was told that I can sign up for the maintenance package if I like as the full package is recommended for those with severe hair thinning or conditions of Alopecia Areata.

Neeta’s Herbal Hair Loss Treatment Centre is located at Novena Square 2 #B1-132, and you can visit their website for further details.

Have a very Dressy Merry Christmas everyone!

Anyone wearing a polka red dot dress tied with a red grosgrain ribbon for X’mas? Well, I’m not but I found this Origami folded dress version in card version from Maranda, an online store that makes one-of-a-kind handmade paper creations. I thought it’s such a cutie and a nice way to wish all my readers a Merry Christmas here!

Before I go, just wanted to share a modified X’mas joke with you.

One of my readers climbed onto Santa’s lap and Santa asked “What would you like for Christmas lovely one?” My reader stared at him in horror and then said: “Didn’t you get my letter?”
(Poor reader. Blame it on the slow postal service k?)

So what did that reader asked in the letter? The Lenovo U160 Ideapad! The good news for this reader is while Santa didn’t answer your wish but I can! How? Just participate in the Lenovo What’s Your Idea Of Fun Finale Giveaway hosted here. And since the postal service is so slow and a number of you have written privately to me complaining so, let me then extend the deadline by a few more days *wink* till the midnight of 31 Dec 2010, Singapore time.

Have a fun time with your loved ones, dearies! Remember to snap and post pictures!

Cosmetic foundation Share: what’s your nail color for this X’mas?

Am I having a blue X’mas or what? Yeah, but only on my nails! *wink* There is already so much red during this festive period and so I thought I’ve do cosmetic foundation with some interesting contrast via this navy blue Anna Sui nail color from my stash. Actually when I received this nail color in my goodie bag, it looked more like a purple blue to me. But now that I’ve applied on my nails, it’s looking more navy blue. Definitely a pretty color!

Lovely rose scented nail polish
Anyway, this is the first time I’m using Anna Sui nail color and I have to say I’m liking the rose scent much. It’s definitely better than the usual nail lacquer fume! But because it smells good, I have to stop myself from sniffing my nails too often as I’m not sure it’s a healthy idea. Maybe I should just keep this color on my toenails as sniffing them would be quite a challenging feat – challenging for me to bend over to sniff them and challenging for me to bring up my feet to smell them all the time!

Anna Sui Holiday Collection nail polish colors
Besides this navy blue, you can also find holiday pink, sparkle gold, carnival orange and carnival clear in the Anna Sui Holiday Collection of nail colors. And they are retailing at S$24 each.

So ladies, are you wearing any nail colors this X’mas? And what is the color on your nails?

For younger girls, I always recommend a little tinted moisturizer only on your problem areas (perhaps

Are you blending away your mineral sunscreen?

I had a question for myself recently while I was applying my makeup: did I just apply away my sunscreen? Okay, this sounds like a trivia question but well, for a skincare fanatic when it comes to the area of sun protection, nothing is too trivia eh?

I use a mineral sunscreen a.k.a physical sunblock containing Zinc Oxide and because Zinc Oxide and or Titanium Dioxide in a mineral sunscreen is meant to sit on top of our skin to deflect the UVA and UVB rays, it is thus better to leave them “undisturbed” after application. However, many of us do apply some powder or foundation over our face after our sunscreen application and so what makeup tools are better to be used after that – a brush, a sponge, a puff, or fingers? And what should we do to minimize disturbance of the sunscreen?

Using fingers
I know some ladies like to apply their makeup with their fingers. In this case, I would suggest that you dab on rather than blend on so as to minimize rubbing away your sunscreen.

Using sponge
Sponge offers better coverage but I realized that one may tend to use the sponge to blend the foundation on the skin and when that happens, you may actually be blending your mineral sunscreen away. So again, dabbing might be a way to avoid the “disturbance”.

Using powder puff
I actually quite like the idea of puffing powder on my face as that hardly disturbs the layer of sunscreen sitting on my skin. The light puffing action ensures almost no disturbance.

Using brushes
However, most of the time, I use synthetic kabuki brushes to apply my face powder, whether it is a mineral foundation or a compact foundation. The soft bristles seem to ensure that I barely need to disturb my mineral sunscreen that I’ve applied on the face. However, I think it really depends on the pressure that one applies although I usually apply with a light hand and so the disturbance should be minimal.

What about chemical sunscreen?
While I’ve kept my discussion to only usage of mineral sunscreen, you can also apply the same tips when using a chemical sunscreen although the latter work by absorbing the sun’s rays and should be the first thing you apply on your skin even before using an additional moisturizer. However, because mineral sunscreens need to form an external barrier on your skin and hence, it is more important not to rub or blend them away since they’re the last of the skincare products you apply before your makeup.

Applying makeup about 10 mins after using a sunscreen
But whether you are using a mineral sunscreen or a chemical sunscreen, it is actually best to let your sunscreen sit and settle on your skin for a few minutes before applying your makeup. If you can afford the time, 10 minutes or slightly longer is good.
